Car Tip: DIY Brake Pad Replacement Save Money with This Simple Fix

Remove the wheel

Before removing the jack, take a wrench from the trunk of the car and break off the nuts. Don’t remove them completely, but break them while the weight of the car is still on the wheel. Then jack up the car and put a stand underneath it for safety – never trust the little scissor lift to work under your car. (Always remove the opposite tire as well.

When applying the front/driver brake, push a brick or wood against the rear/passenger tire to prevent the vehicle from moving, lifting or stopping.) After turning off the steering wheel, turn it in the direction you are working. This gives you easy access to any screws you need to remove.
