Remove the insert mounting bracket
Next, loosen the two large screws that secure the bracket to the straps. You will absolutely need a pry bar or long-handled ratchet to loosen the two screws as shown above. The extra 6 inches on the handle makes a big difference compared to a regular ratchet. However, if you don’t have one, you can place a piece of tubing over the ratchet handle to pull it out and provide extra strength.

Hit the Rotor for Free
Removing the rotor will also be difficult. The rust sticks to it like glue where it meets the core. For demolition, grab a big hammer and a small saw and go to town. I used a large ball hammer because we installed brand new rotors and I wasn’t worried about damaging the old rotors. Push hard from the back or front and you’ll see the rust start to fall off. You know you’re close.
